Postgame Q&A from Tate Myers after Wake Forest's blowout win over NC Central Friday night. NC Central Postgame: Dino Gaudio“I think it was a good start to the season for us. We did some good things. At the 7 minute 33 second mark one of the coaches handed me a stat, and at that time they were 1 for 19 from the field. If we could keep that intensity up for 40 minutes that would be outstanding. We came out of the gate strong and did a nice job sharing the ball. We had 20 assists on 37 field goals. Also, a big plus is we shot 75% from the free throw line. We need to throw the ball into the paint a bit more. At the end of the game I showed the guys, three point shooting 2 for 11. McFarland and Woods 10 for 11. I think we should throw into the guys who are 10 for 11.” On being 2 for 11 from 3: “Our focus has to be on throwing the ball inside. I would like to see Jeff shoot a couple more. I think Jeff Teague is a good three point shooter.” On the play of Al-Farouq Aminu: “What you saw tonight is what we have seen in practice. The other night I called him in after practice. He had just an outstanding practice. He was attacking the basket and that is what he did tonight. I told him to assert himself on both ends. He is just a freshman and is coming along and will get better and better." On James Johnson playing the two guard some tonight: “At one point we had James at the two, Farouq at the three, and two bigs. We have a lot of combinations with these guys. Farouq and James handle the ball well enough where they are comfortable on the perimeter. In our offense it doesn’t matter who is a two and who is a three." On what he is stressing to the team: “Without a doubt it is our defense. If we are going to be good we have to be solid on the defensive end of the floor. We spend a lot of time on defense. It could have been a little better tonight but we will keep working on it and getting better." On the return of Ish Smith: “He is now seven weeks, four days, and nine hours since the injury. My great grandfather Nunzio Magnone came back from a heart attack faster (laughing). But Greg Collins is working tirelessly with Ish. Collins is working his tail off to get him back.
