What's up DeaconSports? This is Travis McKie again and this is my second installment to my monthly journal.
Last month, we play at the Nike MDC. We went 3-2 throughout the whole weekend. We are a team that gets up early & then loses the lead at the end. We need to capitalize on our mistakes. It wasn't one of my best weekends but I played well. I'm looking forward to Peach Jam & hopefully win the tournament.
Pangos All-American Camp was a fun experience for me. It was my first time on the west coast & I wanted to leave a mark while I was out there. Also, the whole group of 2010 commits for Wake were there & we let everyone know that Wake Forest is a problem now and in the future. I felt that I played great throughout the whole weekend. I was able to play loose & be able to show my overall talents. I love playing against the best in the country & it brings the best out of me.
Tony [Chennault] and I were on the same team so we built chemistry. He played well the entire weekend and in my eyes, very underrated. Melvin is the regular goofball & one of the funniest dudes ever, but he played very well. Not just on the inside, but taking the bigs outside are doing work from there. JT went crazy that weekend - it was like he didn't miss. He had 28 in the all-star game, an automatic scoring machine. The whole weekend was great and I wish I could go again.
Next up for me is NBA camp and I am looking forward to that because everyone that is anyone is going to be there so the competition will be great!!! I always look forward to playing against the top ranked players in the country. After the NBA Camp is Peach Jam. The Nike Skills Academies & Lebron camp are both question marks as of now, but its all good.
I asked DeaconSports' Tate Myers to ask you guys some questions that you wanted me to answer. First, I will be returning to suit up for John Marshall for my final high school year. One more shot at the ring!! I try to emulate my game after Penny Hardaway, Scottie Pippen, and Lamar Odom type players. Versatile, long forwards that can do anything on the court. As far as Wake recruits, I mostly work in the 2011 class: James McAdoo, C.J. Barksdale & Quincy Miller are my main targets & I put Wake in they ear as much as possible. I will graduate in 2010, not anytime sooner!
