Demon Deacon basketball commitment Travis McKie, a 6-6 forward from Richmond, Virginia will keep up regular journal entries at DeaconSports. The following is McKie's first journal entry at DeaconSports.

Hello DeaconSports, I am Travis McKie & this is my first installment of my monthly journal. I am real excited on committing to Wake Forest and the coaching staff was excited about it too. When Coach Gaudio & I told Coach Kelsey I committed, he did a backflip on his desk and broke his computer. It was one of the best days of my life. I sent a mass text message out to everyone in my phone. After that, I was searching for some Wake apparel in Richmond but it was unsuccessful.

I am just so happy to become apart of the Demon Deacon family. Coach Gaudio & I have really made a great relationship & I can't wait to come to Winston-Salem. My smack talking among my friends and basketball players already started. Me, Kendall Marshall (UNC) & Andre Dawkins (Duke) all room together & all we do is talk about each other.

My AAU season so far is kind of up & down. We won states but we have fallen short in the semi-finals three times in a row [heading into this past weekend.] For us, we just have to come together & play defense. We have the talent to do special things and win a national championship, but in order to do that, we MUST defend better.

I have been playing really well on the AAU circuit. I feel that I am improving every tournament and trying to compete. My ball handling & defense have come a long way from last year. Also, my mid-randge has become deadly this summer. I'm just working out & trying to become a complete player. As far as talking to any Wake prospects & committed players, I know C.J. [Harris], J.T. [Terrell] & Melvin [Tabb]. I texted JT when I committed & he said "Welcome to the family." I played against Tony [Chenault] last weekend as well. We won by 30 but he played really well. I had to guard him & he probably had 20 that game. Knowing that he will be my point guard with JT & Melvin, we are going to cause damage in the ACC.

With Wake prospects, I have been recriuting already. My 1st assignment I'm working on is James McAdoo. I talk to him every week about Wake Forest. Plus, the second time I visited, he was with me so he has seen the campus. Also, I've been talking to C.J. Barksdale about Wake. Brian Richardson, Marquis Teague, anyone Wake may be recruiting, I am on them. Also, there is a developing 2011 player Trey Davis, who Wake is recruiting. He is like my little brother so I always in his ear. I should be on the coaching staff!!
