Kyle Olugbode may not be a name that is familiar to you but it will be. The big-time athlete out of San Jose had a good junior season at both running back and defensive back despite splitting carries with another talented back and being banged up for part of the season.
"We had a great season," said Olugbode. "We won our sectional championship for the first time in 18 years which was special. Individually I think I had a good year but maybe not as good as my sophomore year."
Olugbode had 59 carries for 360 yards and 6 touchdowns. On defense, he was able to snag 2 interceptions, 1 of which was returned for a touchdown.
For his efforts last season, Olugbode was named First Team WCAL (League), as well as sectional honorable mention.
Olugbode has begun to get interest from many Division I colleges and has just begun the recruiting process. "I have heard from Stanford, UCLA, Washington, Colorado, Wake Forest, and Minnesota. I don't have any offers yet though."
Olugbode planned on going to Wake Forest for their junior day a few weeks back bu was unable to make it due to his basketball schedule. "I really wanted to get to Wake for junior day but I couldn't get a flight out in time because of basketball. I am starting to learn about Wake and I love the fact that they play ACC ball. I am also very familiar with some of their players like Aaron Curry and Alphonso Smith."
Olugbode stated he would be going to UCLA's Junior Day as well as doing many combines this spring and summer including the Nike combine in Oakland this May. He also stated that distance would not play a factor in his decision. Education is a priority for him and will play a large role in his decision.
