Postgame comments from L.D. Williams and Tony Woods following the Deacs win over Mt. Olive.
L.D. Williams
On the difference between the team last year and this year
"Last year a lot of people said we were dwelling on Coach Prosser's death. This year it is still in the back of our heads but we have a task at hand. We want to do big things this season and we have the guys that can do it. We have a lot of different guys that can score in double figures and get rebounds. We wanted to make a statement tonight not only to the Wake family that we have a good team but to the world that we are taking no prisoners."
On the team's depth:
"This team is real special because we have so many guys who can play different positions. We have a lot of guys that can do a lot of different things for us. In the long run it is going to help us out."
22 points on 10 of 14 shooting isn't bad is it:
"Coach has been getting on me a bit about attacking the rim and shooting too many jumpers. I just really tried to attack the basket and get out on the break and finish. Jeff found me a few times with great outlet passes."
Tony Woods
On his 15 point 8 rebound performance:
"It wasn't bad at all. Not to discredit Mt. Olive, but the competition only gets better so I am not really too excited about [tonight's performance.]"
On his comfort level on the court:
"I feel real comfortable. I feel like I am just fitting in. It's a great feeling."
Is Chas teaching some of his moves inside?
Chas is pretty nifty and he is showing me the ropes. I am still kind of a dumb freshman but Chas is helping me out."
Were you nervous?
"I was more hyped than anything. I hardly ever get nervous but I was hyped when I got out there and saw the crowd and the Deac on the bike. It was like man it has started."
