More
Clarksville, Md., athlete Michael Campanaro and his River Hill High School teammates are off to a 2-0 start and have outscored their opponents by a collective score of 92-0 so far this season. The 5-foot-9, 175-pound athlete has been a big part of that success as he and his teammates try to get back to the Maryland State Championship.
Michael Campanaro
has carried 16 times for 299 yards and five touchdowns this season, averaging a gaudy 18.75 yards per carry. He has also returned three punt returns for 165 yards including an 87-yard touchdown return which is a new school record. On defense, he has made 10 tackles, two coming for a loss and has broken up two passes.
It had previously been reported that an offer was on the way to him from the University of
Maryland
, however it has not come yet, so he is currently holding two offers from
Akron
and
Northwestern
.
Boston College
,
Illinois
,
Pittsburgh
and
Notre Dame
are four other schools he has camped at and he talked with us recently about his recent recruiting activity.
“I’ve been talking to
Wake Forest
recently and they told me they were very impressed with my film and just wanted me to stop down and check out a game so I could get a feel for the campus and perhaps pick up a written offer,” Campanaro explained. “I’m going to go down on October 27th for their game against
North Carolina
. I like that their offense fits me because they spread things out and use their slot receiver a lot. They also were the ACC Champions last season and are on the east coast.”
“Coach (Ron) Powlus from Notre Dame and I have been emailing back and forth pretty consistently recently as well,” Campanaro said. “He said that he and the rest of the offensive coaches sat down and watched my first game film and were very impressed with it.”
“
Rutgers
and
Connecticut
are two other schools that are really coming on hard right now, sending me handwritten letters and a lot of information.”
