Williams: Wake Still Leads

Lorenzo Williams

For Lorenzo Williams, when it comes to recruiting the only question right now is who is number two on his list.

That's because Wake Forest is still firmly in the lead for the cornerback from Westover High School in Fayetteville, N.C. While he won't be making his decision for a while, it might be tough for anyone to beat the Deacons out.

"Wake Forest is definitely still number one," said Williams, who at 6-2, 190-pounds runs the 40-yard dash in 4.43 seconds. "After them everybody else is pretty close."

Other schools in the mix include Duke and Virginia, who have offered, as well as Clemson and Virginia Tech.

"I was supposed to go to Clemson recently but I couldn't make it. I'll try to make it to one of their games though. They haven't offered yet. I'm visiting Virginia Tech on Saturday, so we'll see how that goes. I'll see what they're like up there."

Williams said the next time he will be at Wake will be for the Deacons' game against Nebraska early in the season. He said he also may attend games against Florida State and North Carolina.

When asked when he will make his decision, Williams indicated he would probably decide during the season.
