McCamey Talks Recruitment

Demetri McCamey

Many schools in North Carolina benefit from the Tournament of Champions and were able to get a number of players on campus. Wake Forest was no different as they had a bunch of their top prospects in to see the campus. DeaconSports caught up with Demetri McCamey to find out the scoop on his visit and recruitment.

Over Memorial Day weekend Wake Forest received unofficial visits from a number of their top prospects including 6-4, 190-pound Demetri McCamey. The St. Joseph HS product drove an hour and a half from Chapel Hill to Winston-Salem and enjoyed a solid visit.

"After the Tournament of Champions Sunday we went down and I spent two and half hours there and I flew back Monday," McCamey said. "Wake Forest has a beautiful campus and I like those facilities there. It's just a small school and that's they type of school I'm looking for."

So what did McCamey do on his visit to Wake Forest?

"All the coaches were there, Coach Prosser and Evan was with me too," he said. "I talked to all of them. We went over to the gym, but they didn't have the floor down because they were added some stuff inside the building. Everything was right there a lot of pictures of Chris Paul, Josh Howard, Tim Duncan and Mugsy Bogues."

Wake Forest must have made a good impression of the 81st ranked player by Scout.com, as they are among a list of schools that are under serious consideration. The other schools on that list are Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Miami (FL), DePaul, Louisville and Connecticut.

"Right now I'm just taking in all the information I can. I'm going to narrow it down after the ABCD camp and see who's for real and who's just pretending."

McCamey also made it clear that he is still open, and other schools would have plenty of time to get involved if they choose to recruiting him. A few schools that have been putting a lot of work into him lately are Georgia Tech and Boston College, both of which just offered scholarships.

With visits to Wake Forest, DePaul and Michigan State complete he also plans to travel to Indiana and Michigan in the coming weeks. He also mentioned that he won't make a decision any time soon.

"I'm going to wait to make my official visits," McCamey explained. "I'm not in a rush right now."
