The 6', 205-pound Herlocker believes he has improved a lot over the past year. Still, he continues to work hard day-in and day-out to prepare for his senior season and football at the next level. Currently, Herlocker is lifting at school, running track, and participating in a local speed program.
After rushing for 1,700-yards and 32 touchdowns as a junior, schools have noticed the Charlotte, North Carolina prospect. "I'm going up to Carolina's junior day this weekend coming up," said Herlocker. "I've gotten letters from a couple of the ACC schools. I've been to N.C. State on a visit. It was Super Bowl weekend. I went up to stay with my brother who goes there and had my athletic director call the recruiting coordinator for my area and I gave him a call and we met up."
A week ago, Herlocker also visited Wake Forest for the Demon Deacons' showdown with UNC. "I thought it was very good," Herlocker said of the junior day. "It was very informative. It's a different kind of school from the others. It's education based which is good. It's a smaller program but still very good competition in the league. It had a nice feel, they're very open as far as welcoming you in."
While Herlocker does not have a solid top five, he notes that the three schools he has visited or will visit, Wake Forest, North Carolina State, and North Carolina, are among his top five. "Those three are in the top five and then probably South Carolina would be in the top five too for schools I want to go to. I've got letters from them but haven't set anything up as far as a visit or anything."
This summer, Herlocker will attend a Nike Camp, the Scout.com combine in Durham, and will attend camps at some of the schools in his top five as well as other local schools.
