Change of Plans

Andre Boone

Heading into the summer with four scholarship offers in hand, Andre Boone had planned to make a verbal commitment before the start of his senior season. With his senior season right around the corner, Boone has had a change of heart.

"It's up in the air now," said Boone. "I just want to see what my options are, but if the right offer comes up I will probably commit. Some coaches are waiting to see what I do this year to decide to offer me or not. UVa, Virginia Tech, North Carolina, Florida and Boston College [are some of the schools that are still evaluating me]."

Boone, a 5-foot-11, 205-pound tailback from Virginia Beach (Va.) Cox, has also revealed a slight change to his favorites. No longer is Wake Forest a clear cut leader, but the Demon Deacons are very much among his favorites and Boone is in constant contact with the staff.

"I've had some contact with Wake Forest," said Boone. "I email and call my recruiter sometimes. I just called him recently to check to see if my transcript got to them and basically what's going on at practice."

Boone, who also favors Virginia, North Carolina and Florida, likes the "small school" feel of Wake Forest.

"It's a small school but I kind of like it," said Boone. "The classrooms are smaller so the teachers actually know you by name. It's comfortable for me because I'm used to smaller schools. Plus the football team is going up the charts and I think I could help their program a lot."

From a football/recruiting standpoint, Boone's summer was somewhat uneventful spending the majority of his time on the baseball diamond. He didn't take any unofficial visits or attend any camps.

The focus now for Boone is his senior season, which opens up on September 2nd. Boone hopes to record his third straight 1,000-yard season (1,398 yards as a sophomore and 1,155 yards as a junior).
