Spring Football Preview: QB's

The Hurricanes start spring football on March 2nd. Lets take a closer look at the team heading into it.

Stephen Morris is coming off a very strong junior season in 2012. After barely playing in 2011 while backing up Jacory Harris, Morris exploded in his first year as the full-time starter.

In his second year in Jedd Fisch's offense, Morris completed 58-percent of his 421 passes for 3,345 yards. He also threw for 21 touchdowns, compared to just three interceptions.

By the end of last season, Morris seemed on the verge of breaking out onto the national scene. He will enter 2013 as one of the most proven and capable quarterbacks in the ACC.

Unfortunately, Fisch is now the offensive coordinator for the Jacksonville Jags. James Coley takes over, and especially with a senior quarterback at the helm, we should expect Coley to keep a lot of the same things that Fisch had been doing in the past. If there's a smooth transition there, Morris could have a huge senior season.

Ryan Williams played only a few snaps as the backup to Morris in 2012. His only meaningful minutes came in the closing minutes of the North Carolina game when Morris was injured. Williams will enter the season as a proven backup.

Gray Crow and Preston Dewey will provide depth at the position. They're each coming off a redshirt season and have been in the program for more than a year now.

Redshirt freshman David Thompson is in the middle of baseball season for the Hurricanes, so he will not be available for spring football.
