OL Jones thinks Wake is a good fit

Malik Jones has an offer from UTEP but he's hoping more offers are coming. One school he is hearing from is Wake Forest.

That's the word from the 6-5, 235-pound lineman himself. Though Jones, soon-to-be a rising senior at Baltimore (MD) Dunbar, has a world of talent and good upside he's also got to put on some more weight.

"I plan on doing as many camps as I can this summer," he told Deacon Sports this weekend. "The only camp I know I'm doing is Wake Forest though. I'll definitely be at Wake Forest.

"Coach Himebauch has told me if I come down to camp and perform well at a certain weight then he's going to offer."

That "certain weight" is 250 pounds. He would still have a long way to go before he's at a college-ready weight, but that would be a good milestone. Right now Jones said he's at 235-240 pounds. Linemen have received offers at that weight but it's uncommon.

What does Jones think of the Deacs?

"He's told me that they're not a big school but it's still a BCS school and they're going to compete for national championships. I liked that a lot," Jones said. "I know they're top 10 in the nation for my major, business or sports management, so they would be a good fit for me. I'll definitely be looking into that school."

Jones has been to schools like Maryland and West Virginia in the past but he said he doesn't have any favorites and he's not sure where his other visits will be this summer.
