"In the summer I'm going to visit Wake Forest because that's when I'll have the most time. I'm just really trying to take a trip up there.
"I've been talking to their coaches and they throw the ball a lot. They run the kind of offense I like. You don't want to make a decision blind or anything so I want to see the atmosphere and experience what it's like."
If the visit goes well, he may commit as Avant hopes to get the decision out of the way so he can focus on his senior season.
"Well, if I like it then yeah," he said. "I want to focus on Miramar and handle my business on the field. I wouldn't necessarily try to commit then and there when I visit but if I feel like it's right then I would. If I visit another school and it can't compare to Wake Forest then I would definitely go ahead and try to commit."
Lonnie Galloway let Avant know he had an offer from the Deacs and has stayed in regular contact through Facebook.
He and the rest of the coaches believe Avant could be a big part of their offense in the future.
"He told me he saw my tape and they like how I work the middle," he said. "They're very interested in that. He said they need someone to work the middle and I feel like I'm the guy to do it. I just need to see that atmosphere up there first and find out whether it would fit me."
It might not entirely be an open and shut case as Florida International has offered and West Virginia is showing interest. Mississippi State recently contacting Avant via Facebook and he said he would be interested in checking the Bulldogs out.
