Fabian Moreau talks official visit

Wake Forest received Fabian Moreau's first official visit last weekend. The 6-foot, 185-pound running back, who plays at Davie Western in south Florida, lists Wake Forest as one of his most recent offers. However, a budding relationship with Coach Ray McCartney is a big reason for making Winston-Salem his first destination of three probable recruiting trips.

"I really enjoyed myself," said Fabian Moreau. "The first day I ate dinner with the players and coaches. On Saturday, we took a tour of the campus and then I got to go bowling with the team. On the last day, I had lunch with the head coach. Coach Grobe's a good guy. He's very easy to talk to and knows his football."

The staff had freshman Orville Reynolds, a fellow running back and Broward County native, as Moreau's player/host for the weekend.

"I got to meet all the running backs with Orville," said Moreau. "We humg out with Deandre Martin, Josh Harris, and Brandon Pendergrass.

"We went to a running backs meeting with Coach (Billy) Mitchell. I learned a lot from listening in. He has a lot of experience and knows what he's doing with the running game. I liked him a lot."

Moreau made the trip with his parents from Davie, Fla., located in the center of metropolitan Miami.

"They really liked it as well," Moreau said on his parent's take of the visit. "Winston-Salem is a small city, and Wake Forest has a small campus. That's not a bad thing though, I liked how it was. It was a nice environment."

With the holidays approaching Moreau has decided to wait and schedule his next visits for January.

"I'm not sure yet when they'll be," Moreau explained, "but I'm planning on visiting Vanderbilt and UCLA sometime in January.

"Vanderbilt plays in the best conference in America, the SEC, and I really like their coaching staff.

"UCLA just got a new coach. He's a former NFL guy. I think they made a good decision, but I haven't been able to speak with him directly.

"After my visits I'll be ready to make my decision."

Moreau will play in the Nike Miami-Dade vs. South Florida All-Star game two days before Christmas representing Broward County.

Moreau is an all-purpose back who had more than 1,900 yard rushing, receiving, and returning kicks with 20 touchdowns as a senior. He plans to run track in the spring for Western.
