"I've actually been doing very well," Thomas said. "A year ago I was a mid-major and now am recognized as a high-major player. I think I got a lot better. I worked on my game every day and the have been in the weight room and have improved."
Thomas describes himself as a true power forward. "I feel like I play how a true power forward plays," he said. "I do the dirty work, rebound, pass it, score, but most of all, that dirty work."
His improvement and game have college coaches excited about the prospect of Thomas attending their respective schools. "A bunch of schools are looking at me now," he said. " I've been to Penn State and Temple and Drexel at the end of June. This week, I went to Wake Forest, Virginia Tech, and JMU." All of those schools have offered along with Marquette, Clemson, VCU, and others.
Thomas discussed his visits this week. "I liked Wake Forest the best and JMU the least of those three," he said. "Wake Forest, I like the coaching staff. I like how everyone there likes basketball, that's the main sport. I think I can step in and help the team soon."
He also got a chance to spend time with the current Demon Deacon players. "They were cool, they were all telling me how I should go there and stuff like that. What they were saying was intriguing me to go there."
Thomas, who possesses a 6'11" wingspan, plans to decide on his college of choice by the end of the month. "Right now, I like Wake and I like Penn State and Temple too," he said. "I could say Wake would be my favorite, them and Penn State. [When I decide] I would say the criteria would be if I didn't play basketball there, I would see what school I could see myself choosing."
Thomas averaged 21.4 points, 12.8 rebounds, and 3.1 blocks a game last season as a junior.
